St. Catherine’s Compassionate
& Caring Nursing Staff Give back to the Community

St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center staff, Kings Park
High School, Smithtown High School East and West Representatives,
and town Supervisor Pat Vecchio (left of check) celebrate
to aid local families in need.
Smithtown, New York - Nursing Staff from
16 units at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center put their
creativity and resources to use by crafting themed-baskets,
which were raffled-off to St. Catherine employees and visitors
with the proceeds to benefit families in need.
The Nursing Staff created the program 6 years ago, under
the leadership of Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services
and Chief Nursing Officer Gara Edelstein, in an effort to
help families in need within local communities. The program
has benefited families associated with Make-A-Wish Foundation
and Angela’s house in previous years.
This year the Nursing Staff teamed up with local high school
leadership from Smithtown High School East, Smithtown High
School West, and Kings Park High School to help distribute
the funds raised. The Nursing Staff raised $6,000. Each high
school will be responsible for distributing a third of the
funds raised to families in need within their local communities.
St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center is a member of Catholic
